Our Projects

We have proven time and time again that, when combined with effective monitoring of schools and mentoring of teachers, Jolly Phonics radically transforms literacy levels of pupils taught with the method.

In order to ensure that we constantly understand the impact of our work we support local officials to carry out regular monitoring of schools. The results of this are then shared in quarterly reports to state-level government education boards, who we then work with to find ways to improve the impact.

Phonics Screening

 

At the National Level, we have built upon UK Government good practice to carry out large-scale Phonics screening Assessments in 2019 and 2021. With 156,000 pupils assessed in the most recent one, we believe that this is the largest such Early Grade Reading assessment to have taken place in Africa.
