Our Projects

We have proven time and time again that, when combined with effective monitoring of schools and mentoring of teachers, Jolly Phonics radically transforms literacy levels of pupils taught with the method.

In order to ensure that we constantly understand the impact of our work we support local officials to carry out regular monitoring of schools. The results of this are then shared in quarterly reports to state-level government education boards, who we then work with to find ways to improve the impact.

Phonics Screening

 

The 2025 Nigeria National Phonics Screening Exercise assessed 72,127 pupils (ECCD–Primary 3) across 33 states and the FCT on their letter sound and word reading abilities, making it Nigeria’s largest literacy assessment to date. Of these, 64,576 pupils were taught using Jolly Phonics, Nigeria’s flagship early literacy programme. The findings confirm that systematic phonics instruction through Jolly Phonics continues to significantly improve early reading outcomes nationwide.
